Yaahi Ke Joga Na Raaja Ke Bhogaa ॥6॥243॥
The enjoyments of kingship are not meant for him.6.243.
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੩/(੪) - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਅਸ੍ਵਮੇਦ ਕਹੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
Asavameda Kahu Deeno Raajaa ॥
(The eldest son) Asumedh was made the king,
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੪/੧ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਜੈ ਪਤਿ ਭਾਖ੍ਯੋ ਸਕਲ ਸਮਾਜਾ ॥
Jai Pati Bhaakhio Sakala Samaajaa ॥
And all the people cheered him as king.

ਜਨਮੇਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੁਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਈ ॥
Janmejaa Kee Sugati Karaaeee ॥
The funeral rites of Janmeja were performed.

ਅਸ੍ਵਮੇਦ ਕੈ ਵਜੀ ਵਧਾਈ ॥੭॥੨੪੪॥
Asavameda Kai Vajee Vadhaaeee ॥7॥244॥
There were great rejoicings in the house of Asumedh.7.244.

ਦੂਸਰ ਭਾਇ ਹੁਤੋ ਜੋ ਏਕਾ ॥
Doosar Bhaaei Huto Jo Eekaa ॥
Another one brother that the king had,
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੫/੧ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਰਤਨ ਦੀਏ ਤਿਹ ਦਰਬ ਅਨੇਕਾ ॥
Ratan Deeee Tih Darba Anekaa ॥
Was given enormous wealth and precious articles.

ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਕੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਠਹਰਾਇਓ ॥
Maantaree Kai Apanaa Tthaharaaeiao ॥
He was also made one of the ministers,
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੫/੩ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਦੂਸਰ ਠਉਰ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੈਠਾਇਓ ॥੮॥੨੪੫॥
Doosar Tthaur Tisahi Baitthaaeiao ॥8॥245॥
And placed him at another position.8.245.

ਤੀਸਰ ਜੋ ਰਜੀਆ ਸੁਤ ਰਹਾ ॥
Teesar Jo Rajeeaa Suta Rahaa ॥
The third one, who was the son of maid-servant.

ਸੈਨਪਾਲ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਪੁਨ ਕਹਾ ॥
Sainpaala Taa Ko Puna Kahaa ॥
He was given the position of army-general
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੬/੨ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਬਖਸੀ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਕੌ ਠਹਰਾਇਓ ॥
Bakhsee Kari Taakou Tthaharaaeiao ॥
He was made the Bakhshi
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੬/੩ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਸਬ ਦਲ ਕੋ ਤਿਹ ਕਾਮੁ ਚਲਾਇਓ ॥੯॥੨੪੬॥
Saba Dala Ko Tih Kaamu Chalaaeiao ॥9॥246॥
And he administered all the work of the forces.9.246.
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੬/(੪) - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਰਾਜੁ ਪਾਇ ਸਭਹੂ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
Raaju Paaei Sabhahoo Sukh Paaeiao ॥
(All the brothers) were happy on getting their positions in kingdom.

ਭੂਪਤ ਕਉ ਨਾਚਬ ਸੁਖ ਆਇਓ ॥
Bhoopta Kau Naachaba Sukh Aaeiao ॥
The king felt great pleasure in seeing dances.

ਤੇਰਹ ਸੈ ਚੌਸਠ ਮਰਦੰਗਾ ॥
Teraha Sai Chousttha Mardaangaa ॥
There were thirteen hundred and sixty-four Mridangs,

ਬਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਕਈ ਕੋਟ ਉਪੰਗਾ ॥੧੦॥੨੪੭॥
Baajata Hai Kaeee Kotta Aupaangaa ॥10॥247॥
And millions of other musical instruments resounded in his presence.10.247.

ਦੂਸਰ ਭਾਇ ਭਏ ਮਦ ਅੰਧਾ ॥
Doosar Bhaaei Bhaee Mada Aandhaa ॥
The second brother took to heavy drinding.
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੮/੧ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਦੇਖਤ ਨਾਚਤ ਲਾਇ ਸੁਗੰਧਾ ॥
Dekhta Naachata Laaei Sugaandhaa ॥
He was fond of applying perfumes and seeing dances.
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੮/੨ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਦੁਹਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਭੂਲਾ ॥
Raaja Saaja Duhahooaan Te Bhoolaa ॥
Both the brothers forgot to perform the royal responsibilities,
ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੋਧ - ੨੪੮/੩ - ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ
ਵਾਹੀ ਕੈ ਜਾਇ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਰ ਝੂਲਾ ॥੧੧॥੨੪੮॥
Vaahee Kai Jaaei Chhatar Sri Jhoolaa ॥11॥248॥
And the canopy of royalty was held on the head of the third one.11.248.

ਕਰਤ ਕਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਦਿਨ ਅਸ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
Karta Karta Bahu Din Asa Raajaa ॥
After the passage of many days in the kingdom like this,

ਉਨ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਭੂਲਿਓ ਰਾਜ ਸਮਾਜਾ ॥
Auna Duhooaan Bhooliao Raaja Samaajaa ॥
Both the brothers forgot the royal responsibilities.

Both the brother became blind with heavy drinking,
